THE SWP TIMELINE

1975: Barkla and Tim Tully start Southwest Precision Printers in Bellaire, Texas.

1982: Tim’s brother, Tod, joins Southwest Precision Printers in a sales capacity.

1984: SWP moves operations into a building formerly used as a dance studio and expands into a larger print buyer market. The company purchases a four-color GTO Heidelberg, officially marking its entrance into the semi-commercial printing business.

1986: SWP continues growing with the purchase of a business forms company. Their current machinery is sold to make room for new, updated equipment.

1989: SWP is transitioned into a full service commercial printer with the addition of a five-color and two-color, state-of-the-art Heidelberg MO presses.

Continuing the tradition of innovative customer service, SWP is the first company to implement Hagen, a time-management database that manages everything from estimating production workflow to general ledger functions.

1990–1996: SWP continues to grow into a full-size commercial printer, adding salespeople, support staff and striving for customer satisfaction

1997–1999: Having outgrown their facility, SWP expands to its current West Houston location, a multi-building, state-of-the-art printing plant with a 40″ six color press.

To meet customer demand, SWP now has a 12 person sales force and a growing support staff.

2002: With the addition of a second 40″ six color plus inline coater, SWP becomes the only independent, family-owned commercial printer with two of the newest 40″ six-color Heidelberg presses in Houston.

2003: SWP is the first printer in Texas to install an HP-Indigo 6-color digital press.

2004: The company is one of the first to install UV inline coating on its 6-color Heidelberg making it capable of applying spot UV inline and printing on plastic.

2009: SWP is recognized with a Benny, the highest honor at the 2009 Premier Print Awards.

2011: SWP is ranked the 3rd largest printing company in Houston by the Houston Business Journal.

Today SWP prides itself on having assembled the best team of print industry professionals and craftsmen in the Gulf Coast region who provide a full range of printing capabilities backed by exceptional customer service.

Our state-of-the-art facility features three conference rooms for client meetings, as well as a newly-remodeled main customer waiting area. Our pressroom features a large well-lit press sheet viewing area for color-accurate press checks and is adjacent to our customer lounge that has all the comforts of home. Our 22 member sales team is always available to handle our customers needs and ensure quality and a commitment to excellence.
